Shiatsu is a pressure point therapy system used in Japan to treat musculo-skeletal pain and dysfunction.

It is also used to relax the body, boost its energy and its natural ability to heal.

Shiatsu encompasses neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, soft tissue manipulations, muscle release techniques and stretching.

Shiatsu assists with the release of myofascial tissue that contributes to visceral and myofascial pain and musculo-skeletal imbalances along kinetic lines.

Shiatsu is a very efficient form of manual therapy that uses ischemic and dynamic pressure along myofascial lines covering the entire body from head to toes.

Pressure can be applied with hands, feet, elbow, knees, forearms, knuckles to break down tissue adhesions, release trigger points and remove joint limitations.

The official shiatu therapy taught in Japan or Canada as developed by Tokujiro Namikoshi is solely based on fingers and hands pressure.
